SPECIMENS
Taken from the Victorian obsession with entomology these 'specimens' were created for both a residency and the exhibition 'Life.Death.Whatever' at the National Trust's Sutton House in Hackney.
The butterfly is often used as a symbol for metamorphosis and life after death but in the old world the butterfly symbolised the spirit of the dead. Here small wax specimens are pinned to wax board and presented in little white boxes.
